Hi all (or to whatever readers stumble upon this, friends and relatives will get this link soon),
This is my first week studying in Melbourne, not naming the uni here since everyone is suppose to remain confidential on the internet. I could have been more imaginative and provide a more fancy name for myself, but I don't have the time, I decided to create this a moment ago at the urging of someone (you know who you are).

Back to my description of Melbourne:really cold, drizzles occasionally and has a weirdly harsh sunlight (mentally I'm used to the idea of having the brightness of the day directly proportionate with its temperature). Cost of living is higher here and in winter, the sun is so low that eventhough I'm indoors in the middle of a room, the sun is in my face illuminating the keyboard. Well, the plus side are the seagulls in the middle of the city and the black and white birds that are apparently calledv magpies and mudjays (excuse the spelling australians). The magpies have an interesting call, some sort of electronic sounding warble. The way smaller mudjays, I'm told by the guy I met, are know to attack the magpies. He also warned me to watch out for them in spring, when they guard their nests fiercely, swooping down at people nearby. The other fun bit are the trams, first place I have been with one.
Signed,
A student from the tropics
